It's funny how this stage is set.
Happiness is lost and mirth's regret.
Comments offending and poetry lost...
I tend its grave. That's part of the cost.
-
Great poets gone to some other great light
Metaphors lost in the gleam of a fight.
"Keep your opinions to yourself now."
Proclaims a self-made hero without a fan crowd.
-
I'm reading the comments, where I oft' get inspiration.
It's a voice for me and I can't fight that temptation.
To bare my soul to those who will see
That there is blood and heart in all of one's poetry.
-
Some are silly or rude, or just plain cruel.
Others are luscious and precious, there is no rule
to say that your heart is a thing to supress
All because it causes one individual duress.
-
Come, great poets of yesterday and today,
Speak your voice louder, don't let it fade!
There are other pastures out there for your words to graze
You'll see the light again past this awful haze.
-
I, too, am out there, you're not alone.
Don't give up on your words because hatred roams.
I hope some are happy with the world they've created.
But rest assured, or rest in fear...poetry will not be defeated!!!!

Lori S. Maynard, Indiana Poet, June 11, 2001 Feel free to rip or compliment! :) :) :) :)

Commentary:
poetry about poetry? o lord!
-------
No poetry will not be defeated, if it is real poetry, which this is not, it is ranting, you and linda will brown nose anything.
-------
I've written poetry about my own love and bitter hate, of other's deaths, weather events, race events, jokes, co-workers, family members, wars and so on and so on. Poetry is poetry. I refuse to brown nose anyone. I'm sorry that you think that way...no wait, I won't apologize if you think that poetry must kiss your butt to be called poetry by yourself. If you don't like it, don't comment if it is not true constructive critique, which, as you say that this is not poetry, this is not critique. I am a published poet with a few awards atop other things. I'm quite sure that this is poetry. As for Linda, she is a friend of mine that I've developed through e-mail. She shed light on another poetry site out there that doesn't have children on it. It is quite an excellent site. I'm glad that this poem disturbed something in you! Emily Dickison was highly criticized in her life, but her familiy are probably thankful for that now that they are receiving money. This poem isn't about poetry. Read it again. It is for those writers who are losing hope because of petty things and their words are being ignored. If they will not stand up, I will...but I know they've tried to get the likes of you off of here! Read it again. I say that I get inspiration from this site. As for the "o lord" commentor #1, I thought religion was not allowed at this site. Go ahead, rip it apart some more, but make sure that you read it and understand it before you rip it apart Cassandra, anon, or any other's out their that have a Bachelor's Degree in literature. If you do, I would love to hear from you. Sign your name every once in a while, it would be helpful to tell the fools apart. Lori S. Maynard
(This is an example of ranting...did it have strutcture, rhythmn, rhyme??? No it did not...this was ranting. Look it up in the dictionary)

Lori:
Your heartfelt lines lift us above every knave.
Artists like you give hope in poems so brave.
Non artists illogically rant and rave.
Your creative verses good poets crave
Stay, friend, with this hanging-rope bridge to stave
off its fall onto oblivion's giant wave!
