Poem Number 18889
For the Sun
---Laphtre
Commentary:
I woke up this morning
and you weren't there.
For more than forty mornings
you had not been there
and I keep waiting for the phone
to become your hand in mine, or
your head tilted against my cheek;
I keep waiting for those
blue blue eyes to come smiling
through the door, bright as day.
I woke up this morning
but it wasn't morning;
it was a still cool night
and the sky was that
shade of silver that means
dawn is coming
so I pulled up the sheets
around me, and I waited.

Nice one Laphtre, I especially like: "....and I keep waiting for the phone to become your hand in mine....". ~ audee

Good images ---and a feeling of not despair, more resignation --with a slight tinge of hope!! I enjoyed this!!

I liked this too Laphtre. A good read. ms
