Poem Number 17546
These are the hardest times
When it's easiest to faulter
With the longing at its greatest
And common sense is beaten back
By the need to hold you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Strong though that desire is
We cannot allow the temptation
Which leads to a well-trodden path
Denying the impulse to return
Yet the smell is so sweet
And so hard to resist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friends we must stay
And in this we are lucky
It's rare for love to not end badly
But love always seems to hurt
Whether it works or not
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I look to the future
And you are still there
So both can help guide eachother
Through our seperated lives
Yet our paths intertwine
But not so tightly as they once did
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
