The Old Year is dead 'n buried
Long live the New Year--till December
A whole new set of resolutions
I am lining up and polishing

to launch first day of January
as I've ushered in every year
Last years objectives were defective
If not, why am I still overweight?

Nor did I double my salary
even though I quit hating my boss
for three whole months as I had resolved
despite the excruciating grief

I sustained as a good employee
At home, had planned never to object
The wife found what she called new soul mate
and the neighbors snigger as lover

Hence fresh guaranteed resolutions
I purchased on an Internet site
