Flower Child

Commentary:
flower child

morning enters
through the veined blinds.
the laddered twine separates
each golden bead into an oval link-
teardrops,
strung in light on the far wall,
dripping from the azaleas.

ah, the flowers.
a few frames
stolen from your
shuttered heart.

you let me in
long enough to sense
the heart of you-
tending these blooms,
this patch of earth,
your thousand species
as if they were your siblings.

you sustain this
riotous, perennial refuge-
your only peace.
your atonement.

tears do not help at all.
they drop unseen
to the gravel path,
and return to vapor.

were you witness,
your own should flow,
unheeded,
to the overlapping stones.

a lifetime is not enough.

so we mourn,
discreetly,
and put the same
sweet air to the world
and yield few hours
to languishing.

great stuff flicker, love the line "a lifetime is not enough." They are placed perfectly and really add a lot of power to this poem. Keep up the good work. Csmith
