Poem Number 16437
so this is how it works
Commentary:
a revolving range of darkness, lightness,
creeps in and out of what i hear upstairs;
never did expect the return of the likeness
of someone as thin, and as unaware.
a parallel so quiet and so blind
that even phantom memories can't match
exactly the voice or nearly the mind;
yet whoever it is, i've been forced to catch
them everyday, see one of them as me,
see the other as the one i was near,
and then close my eyes one more time to see
how close i was to the bottom, so clear;
...i close my door quick, quiet, then lock it twice,
this being alone is an easy price.

A great poem,Jerry. A great description of a tumultuous relationship witnessed through the eyes and ears of someone who has been in a similar situation. Very poetically expressed! "this being alone is an easy price." Good one! -jeffh
