Poem Number 15576
The Watercolor City

Commentary:
Each day
the watercolor city
a grey mirror sans pity
drowns
its young.
`
`
Tears roll
unchecked down stony faces
unoticed by the basest
forms
of life.
`
`
Homeless
bits of rubble unseemly
in the darkness float freely
like
so much chaff.
`
`
Trickles
turn into a fetid stream
bearing sullied and wet dreams
toward
the sea.
`
`
City
coldly denies its sodden plight
sleeping poorly every night
in
the rain.

what a nightmare, to have to live through this sort of disaster. You made me more acutely aware of the horror of it. Well written portrayal. ~ audee
