Poem Number 15459
forever untitled....
Commentary:
I hated her beauty
She wore it demurely
As if it somehow pained her
Her hair was the black of starless nights
Shimmering, draped on perfect shoulders
Her eyes so suggestively expressive
Played Flecks of brown running amidst themselves
Her smile welcomed strangers
And made me sad
Smiles were kept neat in purses
Doled sparingly, lest all be gone
Someday my turn would come
I am so very patient…
These todays I live
Have relunctantly arrived
As time regrettable does
And time has left me a loss
I never did find those locked up mommy smiles
Until just yesterday
Mirrored back at me I looked
At this woman, this grown up girl
This me with light brown hair
Kept securely in place
Smiling the smiles hidden
Lest they be lost forever
I wonder what has become of me
But mirrors don’t lie
Nor will they hedge
They show you just what you fancy not be seen
And there she stood
Her smiles etched forever on me
Like the scars beneath my knees

i am deeply honored by your comments rage...firstly, beacause i admire your talent with words immensely...secondly, because i have never read a poem you have written without thinking 'my God, she writes for me!'

perfectly written and expressed...deepfelt...m.e.

what does "They show you just what you fancy not be seen" mean?
-------
it means mirrors (being 'they') don't lie...they show all, even what wish wasn't there.
