Poem Number 15173
Clean-up
---csmith
Commentary:
Mop me up off the floor,
and wring my pain out.
Basking under sunlight
filled with dusty memories
that I refuse to recall.
Make sure, before you
mop me up, that you
sweep my mind to learn
why it is that I am
so eager to be cleaned.
And if you find it black,
hidden, and it scares you,
think of what it must have
done to me, for I didn't choose
it, I was shackled with it.
You say that honesty, purifies
one's soul, but I have found
the honesty to be too brutal.
Wonderful solution to pain
you can't ever imagine.
You hide things, keep them so
quiet, and it eats at you,
slowly, even more quiet
than you could keep it,
all along inevitable.
So, do I believe your
answer, that "time heals",
remind me tomorrow to give
my answer, and this time
I'll be honest with myself.
