Woods on a Winter night

The carriage rutted the path
of new snow, pristine,
along the wooden fence,
a perfect winter scene,
to pull the horses halt,
and wonder at it all.
The white coverlet
deafens sound beyond
a hoot owl's call.
The bridle bids the
horses to carry home,
but the heart remembers
the beauty on which
we've come.
