Poem Number 14625
Letter to a lost friend
~
I wrote your name on a Christmas card
as was my custom every year
then stopped and wondered how and where you are
from the corner of my eye I felt a tear
How could this Christmas come and go
with no word from you, no smile on your face
how is it you became someone I used to know
and then disappear without a trace
I wrote to you of hopes and dreams
and signed my name with love
and as lights twinkle and ornaments gleam
I pray your peace from Heaven above

Commentary:
So sad and, yes, so true. I have friends I've lost touch with. Maybe you can find anyone on the Internet. Something is lost though, when Christmas cards are no longer exchanged and addresses are misplaced.
