"Getting older"

"Getting older"

The days have come
when it's hard to decide,
Will I go for a walk
or stay inside?
Decisions! decisions!
Oh what an ordeal!
No I'm not joking
it is for real.
Positive thought
wins the choice,
today the negative
loses its voice.
Calling the dog
with a shout,
much like me,
he needs a walk out.
The muscles they ache
the joints are sore,
Lungs gasping for air
and needing more.
Protests and resistance
the body does scream,
But it's done for good health
so I mustn't blaspheme.
Along I go with the dog
slowness is not on his mind,
Leash taut, he paces along
pulling me fast behind.
Finally reaching
our turn around point,
my hip feeling on fire
in its joint.
The muscles are freer
that's a relief,
This has got to do good
is my belief.
On the home run
the dog has stopped sniffing,
every tree, pole
and bird dropping.
It's easier now he has
no haste in his pace,
I can cope better
but feel the heat in my face.
My legs are feeling
a bit dead weight,
Oh thank goodness!
there's the home gate.

Well 'a', you've said it all just about in a well done poem. What can I say? The whole thing is NASTY!!!Used to walk about so fast, do my errands so fast, the chores so fast--now I'm like molasses in shoes. Jane, thank you, I thought I'd add some humour, I didn't spend much time on it, I guess it came out easy, being close to the truth, LOL. Thank you for your kind invitation of contact.
