Poem Number 12440
rain splashes opposing the window pane
obscuring the view to outside
many months in this bed he had lain
his body thin, face pale but still he had his pride
heavy brocade drapes adorning the window lay open
the light inside the room was dim
long ago he had stopped hoping
he knew the end was not far away for him
his mind drifted back to earlier years
when he proposed to his love and they married
their love blossomed through laughter and tears
over this very threshold his bride he'd carried
she had gone on before him through the heavely gate
very soon he will once again gaze at her adoring face
she was his life his love and most of all his beloved mate
tiredly he smiled , yes... he was ready to leave this place.
