Amidst the clamor of the crowd
Rings a voice so true
Without him on the poetry page
We wouldn't know what to do.

Why it's that guy with the funny name.
He'll always tell you what he thinks,
Even if he thinks it stinks!

Who is that silly peeping Tom
who's voice rings out in verse and song?
with so many candles burning, the clown,
it's a wonder his house isn't burning down!

I can almost see that dimple
as he grins from ear to ear
because I'm gonna tell him to imagine
us singing happy birthday...by all the jokers here!

Won't bar you from my window
miss you when you're not looking in
you always leave a lighted candle
