Commentary:
i want so badly to write
ANYthing
something
i want to share my emotions
with the world
to have my thoughts
express
and evoke
the emotions of others.
but the words are seldom
with me
such frustration
the feelings hidden
how do i uncap them?
how do i bring these talents
to the fore?
is creativity something
we are born with
or something that comes to us
thru constant struggle
you all seem to do this so easily
and i fight even for
an opening line
an original idea
a thought to build on..
it makes me want to throw open
the windows..and

You know you have just written a poem don't you and put feelings out for all to see? Try just sitting there and think of any old sentence-the first that comes to you and see what you can build on that.Kind of like free association. Keep a journal of ideas as they come to you or you'll forget them. You are creative as you evidence in your poem and that descending scream. For fun I sit here and start a sentence and see what builds on it. Sometimes it's ok and other times it's awful and I toss it. It's fun. Jane

i know exactly how you feel! it's getting better with me... (i think!) when i hear something interesting, i write it down as an idea
(my ideas page is plum full!) and then i have many options when i want something different. sometimes a line on my ideas page is in sync with another line and viola! im off! i love writing! i like your poem; if you keep writing like this, i think you'll find it gets easier with practice and the words will find themselves in your heart as this one did... and thereby your hand. :)))justme

when i posted this.. i had just written it... and hadnt really thought about how you all would take it. so.. being the coward i am.. i left it as anon. i have to admit to feeling terribly guilty about that. its so easy to hide behind an alias.. but on this page.. i have opened up my real self.. and have even begun to use my real name..err.. initials. thank you Jane and justme for your encouragement.. i will try to write down some ideas.. and ill continue to work on writing. ~P.S.C.

PSC ... welcome to AHA!!! i love your poem & that is one of the joys of writing ... ya never know when words will come. i started on this page anonymously as well & only started to come out, when my words were being mistaken for someone else's. hope to see more of your work on here ... Drm

I would recommend reading Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and Natalie Goldberg's Writing Down The Bones. The best advice I ever took was to keep morning pages, three pages of handwritten stream-of-consciousness writing: write whatever is in your head, don't worry about spelling or grammar, don't edit. It has helped me tap into a deeper well of creative energy than I ever knew I had. Many of my most powerful poetic ideas arise from this daily practise. ~Van

All this is...is a woman or a person lightly touching
Gentle fingers...Whispering sadly some good night. Saying good-bye.
Hello and good-bye...talking silently in the night, good-bye.
Dreaming all the dreams you have ever dreamed of love and hope and
chances. Fresh faced wonders of some time passed. Beautiful but gone.
Almost lost...but not forgotten. Like some sweet sleep into which We are
buried. And tears are the blanket of the night.
Frodo...
