A hand reaches, a head turns
Football is like war
i lay hear and cry
as they gather around my TV
football widow
doomed to another day of misery
for the balls stay in his corner
and I lose the battle
in bed alone. But I'll win the war...
I'm going shopping!

when i was little, i was always getting in trouble for walking in front of the television at just the wrong time and boy did i get it!!! after many years, i decided to learn the game so i could at least watch (i hated football then) otherwise, i lost my husband, my dad and all of my male friends to sundays... now, i love it! my husband tells everybody that i am a different woman on sunday afternoon... ;-) it's a good game; maybe you could just give it a chance? or are you the poetess who says her man will give up the credit card??? LOL!!! at any rate, if you really hate it, you got to find yourself somethin to do girl...shoppin or otherwise; just don't sit home sad or MAD!!! :) justme

well justme--i'm with the author--not the shopping--i hate to shop!--but i know i am one of the few males who hate sports!--waste of time & energy to me chasing a ball around--maybe because i could never play because of my health--my dad never was a real sports fan either--so we spent time together in other ways--he's a great carpenter--i love to sit & talk to him while he's creating--lots of wonderful hours there--window watcher

HERE! HERE! thanks for the advice, justme =o) being chicagoan, the only sport i really watched was basketball ( of course, not anymore ). i tried ... i really did ... watching football but i can't. but then, shopping & going to the cafe later on sounds pretty good to me ... Drm

Oh Lordy Justme, I ain't never gonna like sports if I watched a milion games! And we ain't spending our Sundays in front of no TV either, that's the Lords day and my day to eat out! I'd like to kill the person who came up with playing the big games on thanksgiving and holidays! Use those VCR's and tape it! ~T

i'm not much of a TV person and i think it takes up much too much valuable time, so basically, i agree with you T, but i will never as long as i live tape a football game if i can help it... NEVER! i just cannot wait that long....LOL!!! :) Happy Sunday to you all! :)))justme
