distance cried
whispered goodbye
& left me standing
alone
in the murky sadness
of singlehood
i had heard
people say
"the world is not meant
to be treaded upon by a single unit ..."
curious whispers would follow me
questions would be asked of me
... i guess they had found me an offensive player
for not following the rules of conformity ...
mid-20's ... single & available .. educated & with a career ...
with dreams, goals & ambitions ....
they had the expectation of
posting my qualifications on my back ...
whatever happened to ...
trying to nail my feet to reality's floor?
painting life as i see myself should be?
seeing the world through other people's eyes?
.... enjoying my own company?
Found that warm and comforting nest inside of me
Wanting for eniquity

author--i guess i am not sure if the poem is pro or con facing the world single?--but hey each has their own life to live--the worse response i get is all those who want to "fix me up"--with people i don't want to be fixed up with--just because i am single--i would like to marry someday--but i want it to be the right one--for now am enjoying where i am & the only one's mold i care about fitting into is Gods!--was an interesting poem--window watcher
