Poem Number 194

ITS FRIDAY

Commentary:
Well I’m gliding through the bayou, riding in my p.iro
Going down towards New Orleans
Got a pretty girl waiting there for me

She is my little Cajun queen
Well she hunts alligators all week long
But on Friday night she is mine

We are going to dance to the music that the fiddle plays
and drink a little homemade wine
The boys they all gather round wishing they were me
Cause she the prettiest little girl that you ever did see

Come daylight I know everything is alright
Cause I am still holding her tight
Well I am going to walk her home and kiss her good night
Cause that the way it got to be

But come next month I am going to get myself down, down on one knee
and ask my pretty little Cajun queen if she will marry me
But until then I have Friday nights and my pretty girl waiting for me
Well we will dance all night and I will hold her tight
And dream of things that will be
