Poem Number 15249
Frozen Assets
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Commentary:
My months pass backward,
Like a count down to
-Character assassination-
Birthed
Loss of disposition.
You feel less like
A person
And more like
A narrative
-In our tale of butchery-
We went rancid
Somewhere after
The third day
Sitting out of the fridge.
Break me in like
New shoes
In your
-Cherry wood closet-
Was my haven
The nights
I couldn't stand
To sleep in your
Innocence.
The end was clumsy.
You were left
Felling raw
And battered;
I felt nothing
Except failure
To subdue
-You-
Are there when
I close my eyes,
In dyeing
Morality/Mortality
Your face,
At that final moment,
So gnarled…
So contorted…
Like something
Was ripping at
Your flesh
From the inside out.
I sat disgusted,
As you flopped
Around,
The hook through
Your lip.
How you fought
For me…
I carried
My tears with me
Like the
The widow wears
Black
After foul play.
The right combination
Of longing of lost
And
-A hint of sadness-
Lingered
I did wash and
-The mascara came out easily-
After my eyes drained,
We sat in out state
Of frozen assets
You can't go
Forward
I can't go
-Backward-
The months pass.
