Poem Number 8992

LIFE IS A JOURNEY
~~~
Life is a journey, a well traveled path
Littered with sorrow, wrapped in a laugh.
The paving is smooth or rough from the start,
Potholes of regret, resurfaced with heart.
Life is a journey, with detours ahead.
Lowpoints get flooded with tears that are shed.
Signs are all posted for all to take heed,
STOP! CAUTION CHILDREN
Be mindful of speed.
Life is a journey, so pack for it well.
Some days will be Heaven and others pure Hell.
Illuminate love when tunnels are dark.
If you get weary, pull over and park.
Life is a journey, the road map is vast.
Stop at the churches, don't wait till the last.
Stop at the schools to learn what you can,
Slow for construction, get out, lend a hand.
Life is a journey, already embarked.
Learn, love and listen.
The EXIT is marked.
Commentary:
great poem m.e. with lots of "roadsigns" of wisdom--but you know i kinda like to speed--i know--i know--i know--window watcher (the answer is yes--i have missed my turnoff a few times--funny thing though--i always found another road)
-------
very nice, m.e., you've summed it all up so beautifully. ms.
-------
Some take the Exit at "Wrong Spouse". As Betty Davis would say: "Fasten your seat belts. It's gonna be a bumpy ride!". Nice poem. -_ Morton
-------
I don't see how spouse is derived from this poem except by a mind set. Life being compared to a journey or highway is familiar. I've been on a star trek myself.
Embarked from the house of usher
-------
are you saying you're spaced out?
-------
star trek comment means acrimony makes me dizzy. God says Trust me. I do and it goes away. Then clearer view of the heaven of Himself.
-------
Great poem m.e. I can't find anymore words to say, it's just great! -mercurysmile ;)
-------
there are a few comments suggesting ideas that otherwise wouldn't have been - took a while away from all this distress to see that some are on the good side, though some need more time. Be kind to each other loved ones.
-------
this poem, on the other hand, is not one of my favorites.
-------
...for the intentions behind it.
