Precious Lament (Sonnet)

Commentary:
Precious Lament – (Sonnet)
----------------------
Quietly she sits beside the mirror pond
A pretty bunch of flowers at her hand,
A wreath she makes of fern and willow frond
And fastens pastel blooms with ribbon band.
Clustered soft white daisies with centre gold
Tied on with narrow satin ribbons pale,
Between the daisies she makes colours bold
Using purple and yellow iris’ frail.
Mauve and white petals reflecting her grief
For the lover who had lain by her side,
Sadly their courtship lived a time but brief,
Merciless, he was taken on Death’s tide.
With gentleness of voice the woman croons
To her lover long gone too many lone moons.
