Poem Number 22975

Settlement

Oh the millions they took
from tobacco companies
for enjoying regular
smokes every day of their lives
Oh those giant settlements
So they got a little
asthma here, cancer there
Why didn't I think of that
when I was young and healthy
I could've put in years
of smoking, coughing, yellow teeth
After all that enjoyment
I could've sued the makers
of cancer sticks for a ton
of money and lived my last
painful days in opulence
