Like Owner, Like Pet

Kitty and paroled owner moved
to our law abiding neighborhood
Soon murdered birds appeared in yards
Feathered friends circled the cat box

as the ex-con began to shoot
in "cheap cheap" sound directions
All we heard was: "cheap shot, cheap shot"
over and over again till cops

took him away to the Big House
His cat met a similar fate
the owl told me, put on trial
at Animal Farm presided

over by the Judge's bulldog
Feline was convicted of nine counts
of birdicide and sentenced
nine consecutive life terms
in the Dog House
