Poem Number 16657

Missing

Commentary:
A little piece of me is gone,
imperceptible to the eye;
its absence yields a greater heft,
than that of flesh and bone.
The minus mutes music's lilt,
and pales the garden leaf,
as days cascade into one,
to march to steps of grief.
A little piece of me is gone,
mundane hours fill the day,
interrupted by memories of those
who Eternity took away.

Jane, this is so lovely. my father just passed away and i know i will feel the way you describe for the rest of my life, once this raw pain subsides. your poetry always reaches far into me and evokes such emotion. ms

Thank you Abe and ms for your comments. ms,I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. It's tough to get through and time does soften it a little. Yes, you will miss for the rest of your life. I lost loved ones 30 years ago and they still are in my heart. I'm glad you like my work-it's written from the heart. Jane
