Poem Number 7541
a fraud,a charlatan trying to play on the emotion of sweet children
you are throwing your words in the shape of deception
oh,"veteran" how many years have you actually lived
why do you use the art of honesty as a means of lying
who are you to drag the dead from their graves to honor them?
if honor is what you seek ,name the soldier and write of his life not of his death
recreate his life ,give him immortality but I think this is a desperate fiction
that you have created for conning attention from the people
in truth ,most of the soldiers returning from nam did not come home to a party
they came home to sweat drenched nightmares and being spit on by civilians
there was no god in vietnam and no symbolism to hide the blood and gore of death
slumped and fell is so nice and caring compared to the thousands fragged and
scattered among the foilage never to be a whole man shipped back home
I shall never tolerate a liar(and neither should you)
Commentary:
amen, cs...amen!

The work is unkind. This is Memorial Day weekend and this person wanted to remember an unfortunate incident. True, "Nam" vets were not discharged into welcoming arms always at home, but the dead soldier never had the chance to find out. Military deaths are cited all the time and the circumstances of the death. Be kind, I don't think anyone is looking for attention here. Major Peterson

There is no dishonor in remembering one's death, for in remembering their death you remember their life. I think poem 7540 was a sad reminder of what so many boys faced and if some did not come home to a party, at least they came home. Many died a useless, politicaly motivated death in Viet Nam and if the poet can paint a picture of that useless death maybe others can be spared in the future!

I apologise to the sensitive ears but my father was a NAVY SEAL who did come home but suffered for it.when I was younger,I got to the restroom an my dad thinking I was a sniper attacked me when I was walking back to my room. he just about choked me to death when my mother managed bring him back to reality.he broke down and sobbed for hours asking for me to forgive him.I didn't know what to do and I was very afraid of this monster in my dad's form.three years later,my mom and dad divorced due to erratic and violent flashbacks, she got custody of my sister and I.six months later,my father's body was found in a hotel with self inflicted gunshot to the throat.I will not accept any untruth about vietnam and will not be kind to anyone who uses the "action" as a means of promotion.MEMORIAL DAY is fine and good but downplay death.death is harsh and real,it is not kind .if stuart was so interested in honoring the soldier why did he leave the poem to be finished by someone who had no conception of the soldier's life as he claim's to have had. stuart,I am apologetic and humbled if you are telling the truth but why is there something strangely off with you poem.()C.S.

C.S.-your father died in the war, as he never escaped battle in his mind, even in peace. Many lived and died this horror. I can see why you came forth so vividly. So sorry for your memories. They must sting. But your Dad's battles are overin a place where there is real peace.J.
