Poem Number 11367

I close my eyes and drift
away from the perils and dangers of life
away from my country
my pride and heritage
now red from the blood of innocence
away from the dark shadow looming over my head
a dark shadow I did not have control of
I am innocent
my leader is also called the face of evil
my country is not at peace
but life goes on
or it did until the dark shadow descended
messengers of death looming in the open sky
shouting end to life from the air to the earth
peace or violence
"we" can choose
I close my eyes and drift
away from the world
to a place where happiness lives eternally
my voice is heard
and my life is valued
my eyes close terrified and unhappy
but wrapped in a blanket of security
I am away from Kosovo
and life WILL go on
and I can now take my long awaited rest
my vision is blurred
this is not the sleep I am accostumed to
my heart is slowing
my final breath is near
my life was a victom of hatred and war
but I am away from Kosovo
life for me is just beggining
life will go...
thump.

Commentary:
I think a lot of these poems don't get commented on because you just can't top them. This is really moving but how can I synopsise/review/criticize. It's like writing about the death of a loved one. You just have to tell the story. This is very sincere. ~Cooker

Agreed. Brings it all home. Thanks so much for posting.~nr

thanks for your comments. I agree, many people don't seem to comment because they're so emotional. Somehow I think it helps to see things from other's perspectives. Thanks again for your comments. *catie*
