~ ~ ~ ~ Realization ~ ~ ~ ~
Can I not appreciate your beauty without touching?
Can I not know your passions without knowing?
Can I not love you without love returned?
I can, for you are a wonder of nature
Better not sought, but come upon by chance.
And you move me like the wind.
I know your sound, your touch,
your taste, your feel and your smell.
Yet, I experience you only in the way the blind see.
And you, beautiful friend, will never know
how longingly I have looked upon you.

This is SO BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for posting it Nightrider. Great
to see you have returned...now where is everybody else? COME BACK!
Yes nightrider, come back. You've neen missed. Jane
Add another voice to say good to see you back, Nightrider! Beautiful poem that is worth repeated reads. I think love that is not expressed is a shame, though, because there is little chance we will be loved back. I think it is better to express our love and take our chances that it will be returned. Thanks for posting a thought-provoker, which reminds me of times I have loved and never expressed it, and wondered what would have happened if I had been braver.
good to see you again, Nightrider. thanks for posting the poem, i like it...ms
Thanks all. Good to be here and see you all again. Perhaps one day I may even write something original, good enough to parallel much of the work I see in here today. Thanks again.
Welcome back, nightrider, we've missed you! JFC
This poem is so sweet, speaking of unrequited love. It is wonderful and nicely done. ~Melissa
nr you're back!!! (but you already knew that, didn't you.)
Just came back to see if you've won any prizes since I've been away (or should I say how many)...~nr
been away a bit myself nr--good to see you old friend--enjoyed your poem--see your humor is in place--you know your work has always paralleled the best here--window watcher
Is that what you were doing while you were away, Nightrider? Falling in love? A passenger? ~~Incurably Romantic Poet
No, but I have had some pretty interesting net conversations with a lady I met in Ebay auctions..lol.
Anyway, that poem is at least 30 years old. I found it when I was working at a radio station in Florida and always kept it. Don't ask me why. I just liked it. ~nr
