Poem Number 13135

I am a pawn in this game
and stand, hand in hand
with my brothers
while war rages round
On her field of battle
the far-reaching Queen,
radiant in her myriad ways,
stands supreme.
Even the most valiant
of Knights or holiest of men
subcome to her advances
and the King
valued most in defeat
takes sure footed steps
behind Castle walls.
I stand garrison, immobile
looking forward
as she harries the flank
and am captured. Mate.
Another victory in this
game of chess.
