Poem Number 12912

It was a cool night in Congo
so far away from Chicago
and nightclub Whiskey Agogo
I hear distant beat on the bongo
and voices in local lingo
Starry sky, and drum sounds like Ringo
Ccould just picture Beatles logo
in a thick thicket of Mango
There are no flights to Durango
nor a steamship to Tobago
No rescuers to spot you--bingo!
Got ATM, no Wells Fargo
No way to pay my way to Togo
witout our broken down Yugo
Can't hop far on stick for pogo
We were stuck-- all systems: No Go

I saw my friend not long ago
he can help, His name is Hugo
He can send the much needed cargo
Glad to help, I could do the"Go-go"

Mind if I ask what inspired this? It is so clever and I would never have thought of it, just wondered what made you think of it. Fun to access people's thought processes somtimes if they will allow you.

#9 commenter ~ Speaking for myself (first few lines), I tried a limerick like: 'there was a man from Congo', but couldn't produce a good limerick . 'Congo' kept haunting me, so I wrote the initial lines for fun. The others did a good job after that. ~ Hermie
