Poem Number 23334

Navigating Life

A young man at a bus stop
asked an elderly gentleman who was passing by,
"Do you know where the end of the line is
for the next bus?"
`
"Why yes, it follows this one-way street
until it reaches its final station, Death",
said the older man.
`
"How long is the trip?", asked the younger gentleman.
`
"I can't tell you. Haven't ridden that bus yet.",
replied the elderly man. "I'm headed north on Freedom
street instead. You're waiting on Time", he continued.
`
"I'm interested in seeing some of the sights.
Do you have any recommendations?" asked the younger man.
`
"That's straight north of here.
For sight seeing, walk don't take the bus.
`
Going south, this changes into Rat Race which tees off
into the narrow culdesac, Misery, or
an entrance to a Slavery compound.",
the elderly man continued.
`
"Not much to see there. I stopped by for a short visit to
satisfy my curiousity, but for sight seeing, that'd be north,
but Freedom widens out to a Boulevard and then a large highway.
`
You can even follow Freedom past the North Star, and the edge of space
to the Void.
`
Easy to get lost there. I'm making a right at Desire Avenue.
That's an intersection a bit north of here, but that's a one way
street, just like Time, the route you were waiting on."
`
"Do you have a map of the city?", asked the younger man.
`
"Not in detail, but you can get your orientation from points
on the horizon."
`
"If you planning on taking Desire, don't stay on it.
It looks straight, like Time, but loops around to the South
and ends at a traffic circle called Addiction, near Misery and Slavery."
`
Instead, head north on Freedom until it widens into a boulevard,
then make a right on Desire.
`
There's good sightseeing for a stretch on Desire,
but when you hit Communication, make a left off Desire
and stay on Communication until you hit Main.
`
On the corner of Main and Communication, there's an orientation center,
101 Communication Boulevard, Suite A. You can't miss it.
Chat with the receptionist. She can help you get your bearings
around here.

That's where I'm headed once I meet up with a tour group forming at the
intersection of Communication and Desire, you're free to come along
if you'd like.", finished the elderly gentleman.

I went to the city to get a poetic license
and a guy there by the name of Ogden, said;
"you can't do that, kid you either got it
or you don't. So I have to take the bus now.
