Poem Number 23257

A map of ancient Alexandria
folded into an oragami cherry blossom
sits beside
an empty bottle of Yebisu
and a tea bowl by Nishihata
outside is noise
inside is silence
surely we start to destroy each other
diffused splendor of civilization
wrapped in the sophistry of love
You were patient, God knows
bending in all the percise places
while the giant thumb nail
pressed down against your folds
And I watched, said nothing
Now, too late,I take up my old bamboo wisk
and try to bring centuries of foam for your cup
but you, like the hanging gardens
have been left too long unattended
