Poem Number 22818

Take That and That !!
You scurvy rat!

Commentary:
The waves are crashing over the moon-
when did the tides become so bold?
Confusion is repaving the blacktop road.
Even the animals have darting eyes
from the ground to white foam
washing out of the skies.
.
People gawk in fear
at the new world, of whales
dropped on the lawns,and lobsters
in trees- no counting by twos-
only by threes. God says
we are sinful and must be punished
with fear. Prayer is futile
to an unbending ear.
Jane

I like the form, style and message. I don't necessarily agree with it, but enjoy the different perspective. Actually, I wrote a poem similar to it a while back (except for the end). Btw, good to see you Jane. ms

Hi ms- good to see you too. Thanks for your comment. Sometimes fear is palpable among us at this time. I am sure we will get through all the mess the world is in but it is rough during it. Jane

"People gawk in fear
at the new world,..." many of us are left in such a state since the future is so uncertain now. future of this country as a whole ... Drm

Hi Drm!! Yes it is a tenuous time and sometimes the fear is palpable. I think not since the civil war, has this country been so devided. Threats are all over the place-Iran bombing Israel into the sea- European countries sending millions to the Hamas in Palestine, North Korea, and of course the diseases- ugh!! We have to hang in there I guess. This poem is a picture of how nothing can br counted on right now. If God punishes, well whether he is doing it or not, but we are infested with fear. Thanks for commenting. Glad you are still here. Jane

The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed.-Buddha

Trust is the antidote for fear. Trust that we will be given everything we need to get through this moment & this day. — Murphy Tobin

Well, Buddha, if course the moment you cease asking for help, you are free. But life offers fear on so many platters. We have to learn to depend on ourselves and believe me-that makes you stronger. Tobin-trust is a help for fear but be careful what you trust. This past year I and my family have been put to the test- I had cancer surgery in Oct. and my oldest daughter had cancer surgery in Jan. and she may not be home free yet and neither am I, so to blindly trust in the face of these "bombs" is hard. Thank you both for your input. Jane

Jane -- good luck during this time in your Life!!! my prayers are to you & your daughter. hope you both get through this scot-free. btw, what type of cancer are you fighting? Drm
-------
Drm, it's breast cancer-very early. Am on a hormone-Arimidix to stop estrogen production. It doesn't really agree with me but I'll stay on it as long as I can. These cancers thrive on estrogen. I am lucky tho- no nodes were involved. My daughter had precancerous cells in the endometrium and was advised to have the surgery. She also has an iffy breast condition they are watching. It's been a "bitchy" year. But I am thankful it was caught early. Deb is 50 and pre men-so they have her on a very very low dose of Estrogen to get her over the jolt of no estrogen at all. Thanks for asking and for your concern. Jane

-------
Jane -- since caught early, odds are on your side =o) drugs are a bitch to take, aren't they? especially like you said ... doesn't quite agree with you. well, good luck once again & you are welcome. i think after hanging out here for a while, in a way, you get to "know" people through their poems ...
