Poem Number 331
Star Debree
Commentary:
You and I are star debris.
There is more than death and birth.
For now it's flesh and gravity
That have bound us to the Earth.
Though we try so to deny it
With our hope and fear and crime,
We're still ripples small and quiet
In the endless pool of time.
We have need to leave a mark
Before we somehow vanish.
But where to? and who will banish?
I say we will just embark.
A foolish human saying
Says that everything must end.
But there's no proof to defend
And make it worth obeying.
We've always been in being,
Contrary to insistence,
Perhaps not touching and seeing,
But some kind of existence.
You and I are star debris
There is more than death and birth.
For now it's flesh and gravity
That have bound us to the Earth.
