Poem Number 23114
Before I sleep, I need to learn to live
to learn to dance
with the abandon of a summer rain
I need to fit something, somewhere
to complete the incompleteness
that whimpers to be whole, yet hides
in the shadows of self betrayal
before I sleep, I need to awaken
every unroused part of me
I need to move the muted pen of my soul
and write my existence someplace
before I sleep
I want to scream into the crevasse that will swallow me
and hear an echo
a sound of life, that will reverberate
the reality of me, to someone
sometime
before I close my eyes
and refuse to dream.
