Poem Number 593

Daily photograph number one seventy one
Depicting an Arkansas son-of-a-gun
Haunches up high and brow full forward
His thoughts seem focused and lowered
The photographer perfectly caught his demeanor
His penetrating gaze made him look meaner
But in life when he takes on moving motion
He walks like he just got a major demotion
The fella, you see, was born a half wit
Raised in the hills in a house in a pit
His Pa dug him a hole for a home while on vacation
Then decided against the hole and the entire nation
Pa took off on a barge and left him to fend
For himself in the Ozarks with out any friend
So he wandered about and found a big copper pot
He filled it with barley, water and hops and made it hot
And this is when the famous photo was taken
As the photographer was out hiking and bakin'
He was also checking on his outdoor grow patch
When he happened to see the copper pot scratch
He seized the moment with his old kodak cam
And froze it for future and rode off on a lamb
In a museum the grand, framed photo now resides
For the world to appreciate what that son-of-a-gun strides
