Poem Number 1200

snowy an white
cold and icy
thats winter
going dark early
car lights shinning in the distance
thats winter
a blue-pearl moon balanced on a snow drift
falling snow robs the air of sound
what's winter
spruces casting purple shadows
hair greyed with snow
there's winter
dancing on icicle breezes
layering lakes with ice
who's winter
a shivering breeze reddening our noses
also freezing our toes
Why winter
Hide winter
Bury it under snow
So no one knows winter
Hold winter
In your heart
Form ice splinters
And live within winter
Mold winter
Into summer
So cold is heat
And thereby end winter.
