Poem Number 403

a blue shuffle scuffed a dust cloud down them crossroads
passed tobbacco fields whisper promises of endentured poverty
family blood poured upon this fertile palmetto soil
courage -cowardous-pragmatic survivalism-metaphsical inspiration
fatback with beans in a tin roof shack hotter than hell on a sunday
rain poured from the gourds of angels beating down like a drum
plow the love to seed our passionate fruit of tomorrow
In the sunshine of tomorrow forget not the bittersweet taste of yesterday
