Poem Number 23264
I could be thinner
when I lower my eyes
I see
where my pain has deposited
its silent voice
I could be a little more unnoticeable
when I walk in a room
I feel
the repulsion
I see in your eyes
reflection of large
non erotic
shame
I am fat
I could be
imperfectly beautiful
if political correctness
will let me avoid
self hate
normalise my size
end bigotry for the big
but damn
life ain't always so pretty
and obesity
ain't always so desperate
to please
the thin minded.
