The Chinese treat the field of knowledge as a single unit which includes both science and art. Treating knowledge as such, the artist is also a scientist, the physicist also a healer, the martial artist also a sage. We have created Full Circle with this context in mind. We want to provide a vehicle where the ancient and classic literary and artistic tradition of T'ai-chi Ch'uan can be continued contemporaneously so that the present and succeeding generations of T'ai-chi Ch'uan practitioners can bring to the work the same piercing appraisal and searching creativity as our sage predecessors. In our time there is a wealth of literary and artistic talent out there which can be brought to bear upon this wonderful and delightful art called T'ai-chi Chu'an. We hope that Full Circle becomes the literary and artistic expression of our kung fu (achievement of technique or skill). As the circle goes around, perhaps our community and the larger community of t'ai-chi ch'uan players can be richer for it. Knowledge shared, when it comes around full circle, increases ten fold. Hopefully, this endeavor will add further delight to our practice. |
